Laser Depilation at our Clinical Capillary Institute in Barcelona is permanent depilation and the most adequate solution for those men and women who consider excess hair to be a cosmetic problem, or suffer from hypertrichosis, hirsutism, pseudofolliculitis, recurrent pilonidal cyst or folliculitis in its non-inflammatory phase, but as with all medical procedures it has its contraindications and limitations.
For people who have been sunbathing in the last month, are photosensitive through illness or medication, are undergoing treatment for acne (suspend treatment 7 months prior to laser depilation), have a malign or benign tumour or process, laser depilation treatment is absolutely contraindicated.
Similarly, there are limitations for pregnant patients, breast-feeding women, unbalance diabetics, the immunosupressed, those with recurrent herpes simplex in the area to be treated, with high risk of cheloid scarring in areas with pigmented lesions that the patient does not wish treated and in areas recently depilated through avulsion (wax, tweezers, electric razors, etc.). In these cases special precautions must be adopted.
At our clinic prior to commencing treatment a medical study is undertaken for each patient in order to determine if he/she is a good candidate, as well as a test laser shot to prevent and unwanted side effects and adverse reactions.
