Once it has been confirmed that you are a good candidate and you wish to proceed with the procedure, we will take the following steps:
Prior to the intervention you will be taken for:
And you will have to do, or have done, the following:
In relevant cases, it is extremely important to apply low frequency laser treatment to the donor and receptor sites, in order to condition the skin (which facilitates the extraction of the strip and the insertion of the hair grafts and above all reduces the post-operative scar pressure), likewise and for the same reasons, scalp exercises are important and we will show you how to do them at home for 15 minutes a day for the 15 days prior to the procedure.
These treatments increase the elasticity of the skin and favour the hair transplant.
The intervention is normally begun first thing in the morning and has a duration of between 6 to 8 hours (depending on the alopecic area), and is carried out under local anaesthetic or without sedation).
To follow, a strip of the scalp from the occipital area is taken from the donor site, from which micro-grafts are extracted using a stereomicroscope, which ensures precise incisions, avoiding the unnatural appearance of “doll’s hair”.
Once the required number of follicular units have been obtained, these will be homogenously implanted into the receptor site, using microsurgical scalpel and tweezers, which enable the surgeon to select the direction and inclination of the hair, in particular for the frontal anterior hairline and for the different areas of the crown.
The amount that can be implanted are between 1500 to 5000 hairs in one session, thanks to the help of a team of 3 to 5 trained assistance for this precise and meticulous work.
The aftercare instructions are explained in detail and in writing at the end of the intervention.
It is advisable not to drive after the intervention.
You will have continuous contact and communication with the medical team, for any question or concern that you may have.
