Alopecia provokes “a loss of self-confidence” in men.
They feel “less attractive and older” and “it makes relationships within the social and family environment difficult”. These are some of the conclusions of the sociological study carried out by the Gallup Institute amongst more than 1.500 men from France, Germany, Italy, Great Britain and Spain in order to analyse the psychological effects associated with male alopecia and the impact it has on the mood, self-esteem and relationships of the men who suffer from it.
Of the 300 Spanish men polled, some 35 per cent confessed that they fear going bald. Some 37,5 confirm that they feel old with the loss of their hair. And 33,5 say that they are losing an important part of their physical attraction.
